Gestalt Branding Portraits for Reverend Katrina Dorow | Highlands Ranch, CO

Some branding sessions are about creating polished professional portraits. Others are about capturing the essence of the person behind the work. My recent session with Reverend Katrina Dorow was very much the latter. Katrina works with individuals, couples, and groups, supporting people through some of life's most profound transitions—including grief, loss, change, and the many moments when we find ourselves standing between one chapter and the next. Her work is deeply relational, and we wanted her branding portraits to communicate the qualities that make her work so meaningful: presence, compassion, authenticity, and a willingness to sit with people exactly where they are.

Creating Non-Equine Gestalt Branding Portraits

Katrina's practice incorporates Gestalt principles, and while she is also known for her work involving horses, this session focused specifically on the non-equine side of her practice. She offers her service both in person and virtually. We wanted to create imagery that represented the work she does directly with individuals, couples, and groups. Rather than creating a collection of conventional headshots, we approached the session as a visual exploration of her work. We created portraits that feel approachable and grounded, along with images that convey the quiet depth and presence she brings into her work with clients. Our goal was for someone encountering Katrina's website or professional materials to get a sense of what it might feel like to be in a room with her—not simply what she looks like.

Photographing Presence

There are some qualities that are difficult to photograph. Compassion is one of them. Presence is another. But sometimes, when someone genuinely embodies those qualities, you can feel them in the images. I know this because I've personally worked with Katrina. I have experienced first-hand the depth of her compassion, the way she creates space for honest exploration, and the transformational nature of her work. She has a remarkable ability to be fully present without judgment—to listen deeply, to encourage us to feel what is in our body, to seek the wisdom within, and to help people discover their own path forward. I deeply admire Katrina’s work and am grateful to have had the opportunity to photograph the essence of her work.

Branding Portraits with Intention

For professionals whose work centers around helping other people, branding photography needs to do more than establish credibility. It needs to communicate how it feels to work with you. For Katrina, that meant creating portraits that feel warm rather than corporate, thoughtful rather than overly posed, and authentic rather than manufactured. Her work asks people to slow down, become more present, and explore what is happening beneath the surface. Her imagery should invite that same sense of openness. This is one of my favorite aspects of personal branding photography: creating photographs that don't simply show what someone does, but help tell the story of why they do it and what they bring to the people they serve.

Honoring the Work of Holding Space

Working with people through grief and major life transitions requires a special kind of presence. There isn't always something to fix or a neat answer to provide. Sometimes the most important thing another person can offer is the willingness to sit beside you in the uncertainty and help you tap in to the wisdom of your Higher Self. That is what I see in Katrina's work and that is what I hope these portraits communicate. Whether she is working with an individual, supporting a couple through a difficult transition, or facilitating a group experience, Katrina creates space for people to explore, process, and move forward with greater awareness. I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to photograph that part of her work—and even more grateful to have experienced her work personally.

Branding Portraits for Soul-Led Professionals

I love creating branding portraits for people whose businesses are an extension of their deeper purpose. Therapists, healers, spiritual practitioners, wellness professionals, coaches, facilitators, and other service-based professionals often need imagery that feels more personal and soulful than traditional corporate headshots. Your branding photographs should feel like an invitation into your world. They should help potential clients understand not only what you offer, but something about who you are and what it feels like to be in your presence. For Katrina, that meant creating portraits that honor the compassion, depth, and authenticity she brings to her work every day. I think that is exactly what a meaningful branding session should do.
